Helping a dog after a car accident

My dad and his wife came here to visit me for the first time in my new home.
We started to go by sightseeing in my town, and walk to the castle
area to look at the beautiful green areas.

Then we saw a big golden dog, the danish dog called a Broholmer,
a great dog, big and strong and generously.
The dog run very fast down a road and I wonder why it was running so fast?
3 min. after the dogs was away from our views, a young boy came running
and asked us for having seeing a big dog here? "Oh, yes", we answered....
My dad pointed at one way and I at another way. The boy get confused,
and I toll him not to listen at my dad, because he should have new glasses,
then he could see so wrong... I´m absolutely sure, the dog ran this way
and pointed at the castlearea....
The boy thanks me and ran foreward to the castle to find the dog.

We continued our walks and enjoy the views down to the castle.
When we came to the castlearea, we saw the dog again...
It stood near a tower, confused and scary....and I toll my dad and
his wife to please stand a while, when I will try to came near the dog
and perhaps get it to me.

Very slowly I get closer to the dog, simultaneous I speak very silent
and calm down to the dog. The dog came over to me and then I saw the
dog was hurt and bleeding from his chest. "Oh, dear God",
I say to the dog, "whats happen to you, sweetie"?
The dog look at me and his tongue was full of blood and its was very nervous.

What should I do now, I think? The dog has no dogcollar and I needed so
much a dogcollar to get the dog to a policeoffice, so they could offer help for
the dog. And I know the dogs family right now are looking for it in the town.

I starts to look down at my self to find anything to use as a dogcollar,
then I saw my handbag, who has a special strap I could take of,
and it was made of nylon. "Perfect", I think...and with one hand I took
off the strap, and with the other hand I clap the dog. In only
few minutes, I have get my selfmade dogcollar at the dogs neck and
toll my family to please wait for me, when I will return the dog to the police.
They accepted!

With no thoughts at the dogs blood, I get blood everywhere at my dress
and arms. "It´s doesn´t matter", I think. It´s more important to get
the dog back to his family. And very slowly, we walk silent down to the policeoffice, and I fear for something noisefull will scared the dog, so it rans
away, because I´m not strong enough to handle the dog, if it´s gets panic.
I speak to the dog down to the policeoffice and praise the dog to be so brave. Thanks the Lord for helping me. We both came safely down to the
policeoffice and step inside to the waitingroom. There´s was allready
blood everywhere at the floor, from the dog.

A policeofficer came out and asking for help. I toll the story of the ran
away dog, and I have found the dog just 5 min. away from here.
The dog it´s hurt and I need help to find the dogs family.

Unbeliaveble, he answered; " it´s it´s my own problem to find his family,
and the dog has fighting with another dog", he says. "Easy to see", he´s ends
his speak. I toll the policeofficer, that I could not walk away with a dog,
there´s not mine, and suddenly not when the dog its hurt.
"Allright", he answered, "please wait for some seconds, when I ask
another officer about the dog".

After few minutes he came back and toll me, they dogs family, just right now,
have contacted the policeoffice by a mobilephone, and they came here a
few minutes. Please wait in the waitingroom with the dog, he says.
The dog and I first walk to the bathroom to get some of the blood of from my arms. Try to get the dog drinking water from the toilet, but the dog deny.

So in the waitingroom I sit down and toll the dog to please sit down to,
and the dog listened immediate.

The boy came, from the beginning of our sightseeing, and he has a friend
with him. They get schocked to see the dog was so hurt, and toll me
what´s excactly has happen to the dog.
The dog has been involved by a car accident and was ran away after this...
Thats the explaination to all this blood at the dogs body.

We walked outside, still with a fast hold at the dogcollar.
When we opened the door to the outside, the dogs owner,
a woman at my ages, ran to the dog. She´s crying when she saw her
dog again. Thanks God for giving me my dog back, she says.
And the boys toll her, I have found the dog and brings it to the policeoffice.
She thanks me a lots and then the woman starts to tell me the
hole story from the beginning.

They have visited her parents at their house, and the dog was playing in
the front (yard) garden and a familymember has forgot to close the gate
out to the road. The dog ran out the gate and hit a car evry fast.
The car gets damages on the front, and the dog gets in shock and ran away.
The woman toll me, she heard that chrashsound and know in the same time,
it was her dog who was hitten.  The hole family ran out to the road
and starts to follow the dog. But the dog was to fast to ran.
And now we´re here, because you get our dog back to us.
"Thanks so much", she says to me.

"It was only my duty to do this", I answered her....
"If I saw people or animals in need, I will do anything to help them"!..

After this dramatic episode, we walk into a café to get a drink and a cigarette.
I really need this after this hour.
And late at night, I couldnt fall asleep, because I starts to think at the dog
over and over again.

And today, I have think a lot of this dog and pray to God to take
good care of this lovely dog.

Hugs, Helle :-)

4 days after the accident, the owner of the dog call me and toll me
the dogs have just fine again!
He has been sewing 5 different places at his neck and chest.
The pet hospital has him for 3 days for observation.
Today, he´s a happy dog and he´s not scary at cars,
thanks God for that!

He´s only 1 1/2 years old!

This was the dog I saved:

A Broholmer, a old danish dog
from the year 1400
